Salary Grade/Salary Minimum:
ICET has a longstanding collaboration with the U.S Army Corp of Engineers Development and Research Center and the Department of Energy to develop technologies for monitoring, clearing and managing of depleted uranium contaminated facilities. Scientists and engineers at ICET have a wide experience in developing technologies for the management and control of radioactive material. Technologies include radiological surveying platforms, soil remediation test beds, and subsurface detection systems. ICET also maintains a large array of radiological detection capabilities and facilities for evaluating the performance or detection instrumentation.
Area of Specialization:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work in a team environment to design, develop, test, and deploy autonomous robotic survey systems
Implement new algorithms to enhance robotic platform capabilities and improve performance
Participate in offsite deployments and demonstrations
Research Engineer I - B.S. in engineering or computer science or related field; Less than one year experience in a related area.
Research Engineer II - B.S. in engineering or computer science or related field; Two years of professional experience in a related area; Requires two years at previous level or equivalent.
Research Engineer III - B.S. in engineering or computer science or related field; Four years of professional experience in a related area; Requires two years at previous level or equivalent.
Solid background in software engineering and development (C, C++, Python, Java, etc)
Experience with C++ and Python
Knowledge of ROS, Gazebo simulation, SLAM, path planning, machine learning
Experience with embedded systems hardware and software design
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of computer networking and communications technologies
Basic system administration for Linux and Windows platforms
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Externally imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; may involve conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
Job frequently requires sitting, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
Job occasionally requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
