The Department of Physic and Astronomy within the College of Arts & Sciences at Mississippi State University is seeking to fill a postdoctoral research associate position.
Area of Specialization:
Experimental nuclear or particle physics
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct sponsored and unsponsored nuclear physics research.
PhD in nuclear physics or similar field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with nuclear physics instrumentation and spectroscopic analysis.
ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS):
Familiarity with instrumentation and analysis of scintillator signals, digital electronics experience, and data simulation and analysis using ROOT and GEANT4.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Nuclear physics, beta decay, nuclear structure, and nuclear physics instrumentation.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
The postdoctoral research associate will be working in a large laboratory where passage of safety training courses and awareness of the environment is required.
