Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Research Associate II/III will assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive research-to-practice training and technical assistance program related to blindness and low vision rehabilitation. This program will include curriculum development and implementation of research-based training activities, development of web-based technical assistance content, marketing of training activities, and providing training at workshops, conferences and in college classes. The Research Associate will also assist with research projects and in the development of reports and peer-reviewed publications.  

Minimum Qualifications:

Beginning with a Bachelor's degree:
To begin at the Research Associate II level, one must have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and the equivalent of a Master's degree.

To begin at the Research Associate III level, one must have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience and the equivalent of a Master's degree.

Beginning with a Master's degree:
A professional employee with a Master's degree and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience and demonstrated competency can begin work at the Research Associate II level.

To begin at the Research Associate III level, one must have a Master's degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience.

Beginning with a Doctoral degree:
A professional employee with a doctoral degree with 2 years of relevant experience and demonstrated competence can begin work at the Research Associate III level. 

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Vision Rehabilitation Therapy/Rehabilitation Teaching, Orientation & Mobility, Special Education, or a closely related field, and at least three years of experience working directly with persons with vision loss. The candidate should possess excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.

Additional Qualifications:
- Credentials/licensure in at least one rehabilitation-related area
- Experience presenting to groups of people
- Knowledge and experience in the emerging assistive technology used by persons who have visual impairments
- Knowledge of job development strategies
- Ability to develop and implement training evaluations
- Expertise with a variety of software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation
