Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful applicant is expected to advance the basic research and applied research in Li Lab projects to study the QQS orphan gene and its network in regulation of plant metabolism, focusing on identification of proteins that interact with known starch regulatory network, and elucidation of protein-protein interactions. Possible approaches may include, but are not limited to, molecular genetics, protein expression and purification, ChIP-seq, and protein-protein interaction assays etc. Work Schedule Monday - Friday / 8am - 5pm (additional hours as needed).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D in Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, or related fields.
• Excellent experimental skills.
• Self-motivated to work towards generating excellent scientific outputs.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Background in Arabidopsis genetics, or metabolism.
• Experience in protein expression and purification, in study of transcription factors and skills in ChIP-seq, and protein-protein interaction assays.
• Experience in contributing to the writing of research publications, and grant applications.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

•No or very limited physical effort required.

•Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.

•Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
