Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching in the professional and residency/graduate program
- Participation in the pathology service
- Development of a collaborative research program
It is expected that this position will allocate approximately 50% time to diagnostic service activities, 25% time to teaching, and 25% time to scholarship. The ideal candidate will have a passion for diagnostics, teaching, and use of case material in scholarly pursuits. Accessions to DLS consist of necropsies and biopsies from domestic animals originating from the CVM hospital, area veterinarians, producers and the public. All necropsies are part of the academic experience of professional students. DLS faculty have broad discretion in case workup. The successful candidate will work directly with pathology faculty in DLS. The DLS is a part of the AAVLD fully accredited Mississippi Veterinary Research and Diagnostic Laboratory System, which has laboratories at 3 sites, and supports an additional 12 professional faculty.
Minimum qualifications include a DVM or equivalent with completion of an anatomic pathology residency and ACVP board certification in anatomic pathology. Collegiality and excellent communication skills are required. The ability to attain licensure (faculty or traditional licensure) in Mississippi is required.
