Department Profile:

The department has more than 400 undergraduate majors and 40 sociology graduate students with strong ties to the African American Studies Program, Gender Studies Program, the Social Science Research Center, the National Strategic Planning & Analysis Research Center, and the Southern Rural Development Center. Programs offered include BA, BSW, MS, and a Ph.D. in Sociology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Active participation in the teaching, research and services responsibilities of the department. Teach introductory, advanced undergraduate and graduate courses. Participate in departmental activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Sociology or Criminology by time of hire is required. The primary area of research will be in Criminology. Preference will be given to candidates whose research focuses on racial disparities in crime and justice.
