ICET has a multidisciplinary staff of chemists, physicists, computer scientists, and electrical and mechanical engineers. ICET also employs students, both graduate and undergraduate, who further support research operations. ICET scientists have leading-edge expertise in testing nuclear grade High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, and research and remediation of soils contaminated with depleted uranium.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The individual filling this position will report to one of ICET’s Researchers and will provide technical support for ICET research project by performing:
• Sampling and analysis to support ICET’s ongoing projects
• Operation of various measurement systems
• Perform sample preparation methods, standard preps, etc.
• Calibration and maintenance of instruments and measurement systems
• Order and maintain inventory of lab supplies
• Display good laboratory practices
• Some travel may be required
Research Associate I – Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, or Engineering related field.
Research Associate II - Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, or Engineering related field and have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and the equivalent to a master’s degree.
Master of Science Degree in Science, Technology, or Engineering related field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience and demonstrated competency.
Note: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with experience in aerosol measurements techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Working knowledge of data reduction techniques.
2. Excellent computer skills, including, but not limited to:
• Microsoft Office
• Adobe Acrobat
• Microsoft Windows
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
4. Ability to interact effectively with other professionals.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
The position may require employee to work with hazardous materials or being in areas where radiation producing sources or chemicals are present. Employee is required to wear protective equipment. Testing activities require assembly and disassembly of engineering scale test stands. This position will be responsible for assisting and/or safely coordinating these activities. Testing is routinely continuously conducted for up to 120 hours. Shift work may be required. Physical requirements include frequent sitting, talking, hearing, walking, and standing. Occasionally requires reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, handling object with hands, and lifting objects, such as HEPA filters, weighing up to 50 pounds.
