Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following examples are intended as illustrations only of the various types of duties assigned in positions allocated to this classification. 1. Provides development and maintenance on various University websites and information systems:
a. Create visual designs and layouts for websites.
b. Develops and maintains websites.
c. Builds web-based applications.
2. Partnering with the group's web developers and designers for website and interface design.
3. Manages and/or resolves clients' information technology problems and requests:
a. Monitors appropriate queue for tickets assigned.
b. Communicates with clients regarding problems and/or requests.
c. Analyzes and resolves problems and/or requests.
d. Provides coordination with secondary support if necessary and closes tickets when problems and/or requests are resolved to clients' satisfaction.
4. Remains current on information technology issues related to an academic environment and provides information and assistance to clients with new information technology acquisitions:
a. Reads IT related publications (publications or Web delivered), evaluates new or new versions of software and hardware.
5. Ability to see a Project/Request through the entire life cycle:
a. Involved in meeting with client.
b. Analyze client's needs and determine requirements.
c. Take the requirements and write specs.
d. Take the specs and design/code.
e. Test.
6. Deliver request to client. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Train and utilize graduate students and/or student workers on projects and daily tasks as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.

A minimum of two years experience in a web design/development environment is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to balance design with customer needs and support.
Develop branding pieces including logo designs.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse customers who possess varying levels of technical proficiency.
Superior knowledge of typography, color theory, and the core fundamentals of effective design as they relate to website layout and design.
Ability to initiate new tasks after an assigned task has been completed or passed on.
Ability to teach others how to use information technology.
Provide occasional one-on-one customer support.
Demonstrate ongoing pursuit of technical knowledge, innovation, best practices, and implementation.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Experience with Web site layouts and design.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in web technologies including HTML, CSS (including cross-browser compatibility), and ability to code them both by hand.
Superior knowledge of W3C Standards and WCAG 2.0 AA Compliance.
Experience with Drupal is desirable.
Knowledge/understanding of the following:
-PHP
-Javascript, JQuery, AJAX, and/or other web programming languages
-MySQL, Oracle, and/or other databases

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

This position requires the ability to manipulate a variety of office equipment, including occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
Nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
Job frequently requires sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands.
Job occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
