Department Profile:

The Department of Art is NASAD accredited and located within the College of Architecture, Art, and Design. It has approximately 300 Art Majors, 20 full-time faculty and offers the BFA degree with concentrations in Fine Art, Graphic Design, and Photography. Information about the department is available at

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Coordinate and manage the MSU printmaking studio.
-Teach a 3/3 course load. Courses include introductory to advanced studios.
-Incorporate both traditional and contemporary printmaking practices in the classroom.
-Advise students each semester.
-Maintain an active and robust creative practice.
-Committee service as well as other service to the Department, College, University,
and professionally.
-Knowledge of Health and Safety practices related to printmaking.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidate must have an M.F.A. or equivalent terminal degree with an emphasis in Printmaking or an Interdisciplinary MFA with an emphasis in Print or Print Media.
Proficiency in traditional printmaking techniques and an active interest in emerging processes.
Competence in digital print media.

ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS):


Preferred Qualifications:

-At least 2 years of teaching experience beyond graduate teaching assistantships.
-Maintain an active research, teaching, and service record reflective of a research 1 institution.
-Strong understanding of traditional and contemporary trends in printmaking and studio arts.
-Ability to inspire students and colleagues to perform at a high level.
-Demonstrate the ability to provide leadership within the department.
-Excellent personal and collaborative skills.
-Excellent communication and organizational skills.
-Experience and interest that prepared the candidate to contribute and thrive in the region.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Minimal amount of physical effort and mobility required.
