Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General Duties and Responsibilities include:
-Teach four undergraduate level courses per semester in the special education program area;
-Supervise field experiences;
-Advise undergraduate students enrolled in special education programs;
-Engage in service to the department;
-Effectively collaborate with faculty in the department to achieve common goals;
-Perform other duties as assigned.
-Earned master’s degree in special education or a related field is required to be hired at the rank of instructor;
-A teaching license;
-A minimum of three years of K-12 special education teaching experience;
-Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching;
-Demonstrated knowledge of instructional approaches for special education students;
-Strong technology skills.
ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS):
-Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred: mild/moderate disabilities, learning disabilities, or early childhood
-Specialist degree or graduate work beyond the master’s degree;
-Experience in online or distance teaching and/or teaching in multicultural and diverse settings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication, as well as strong skills in use of technology.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
