The Department Head of Management and Information Systems reports to the Dean of the College of Business and is responsible for developing and promoting the educational, research, service, and external affairs of the department.

Salary Grade:  UC

Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges.  For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

1. Provide the academic and administrative leadership necessary to sustain and improve a dynamic and respected academic unit consistent with the mission of a land grant institution.
2. Oversee academic programs.
3. Work effectively with students, faculty and administrators throughout the College and University and with the business community.
4. Recruit, develop, and retain faculty; and handle budgeting, fund raising, curriculum and program development issues.
5. Promote and support faculty and staff development.
6. Serve on the Business Leadership Team with the purpose of providing input regarding the overall administrative operations of the college.
7. Collaborate with the Dean, Associate Dean, Graduate Program Director, Department Heads, and other administrative staff within the College concerning areas of management, strategic planning, program management, and allocation of resources.
8. Make teaching and committee assignments, hire lecturers or instructors as necessary, and conduct annual faculty reviews.
9. Pursue cultural diversity and international education with the department.
10. Represent the College and department at local, regional, and national administrative, academic, or professional organizational meetings and conferences.
11. Communicate and interact with alumni to keep them connected with the College and Department.
12. Perform other tasks and duties as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate field and an established, sustained record of teaching, research, and service which will qualify the individual for the tenured rank of professor within the department.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated teaching excellence at the baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral levels; and appreciation for and achievement in scholarly research and publications; and a proven record of service, including fund raising, consulting, and seminars. Administrative and leadership experience, the ability to articulate goals and implement strategies, and excellent communication skills are also desirable.
