The Department of Music is part of the College of Education and is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Teach Elementary Music Methods and Foundations of Music Education courses
•Observe student interns in the public schools
•Secondary teaching responsibilities based on departmental need and candidate’s expertise
•Participate in university, college, and departmental committees, service and recruiting activities

Minimum Qualifications:

•Master’s degree in Music Education required for appointment as Instructor
•Doctorate required for appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor
•Minimum of five years of experience teaching elementary music in public or private schools
•Ability to work collaboratively in a variety of academic and community settings
•Ability to recruit and retain outstanding students
•Academic and professional characteristics consistent with the missions of the University, College, and the Department of Music
•Piano skills highly desirable
•Orff and/or Kodaly certification/training highly desirable
