The Compliance Administrator will serve as a member of a team of professionals employed to ensure that the University maintains compliance with various federal regulations regarding research activities. Specifically, the Compliance Administrator will provide administrative support to the Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects in Research (IRB)

Salary Grade:  14

Department Profile:

The Office of Regulatory Compliance and Security is a unit of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development. The Office of Research Compliance and Security seeks to respectfully guide and serve the Mississippi State University community while engaging in research through compliance and ethical practices in order to protect the University, researchers, and research subjects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Compliance Administrator is responsible for administrative support duties for the IRB. The duties will include but are not limited to:
-Initial review of IRB applications;
-facilitating revisions to submitted protocols;
-assisting investigators with IRB related questions;
-collaborating with federal, state and private agencies in resolving IRB related issues;
-IRB meeting preparation and drafting of minutes;
-drafting various correspondence;
-workshop development and management;
-training sessions for the research community;
-coordinate inspections by regulatory, accreditation or funding agencies; and
-preparing and distributing reports.

All duties will be performed with limited direction.

Other duties related to the goals of the office may be assigned as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience with data management and word processing systems such as MS Word, Excel and Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience in a regulatory compliance, research administration, or legal environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The successful candidate will have:
-experience with data management and word processing systems;
-strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts;
-ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a large variety of requests and needs, sometimes in stressful situations; and
-ability to work independently and attention to detail.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Some overnight travel is expected for professional development activities.
