The faculty member will report to the Head of the Department of Art and teach a 3/3 course load in the Graphic Design concentration. In addition to teaching duties, the professor will be responsible for advising students and service to the department, college, and university. Candidates are expected to pursue and maintain an active body of research and remain current in their expertise.

The Department of Art is NASAD accredited and located within the College of Architecture, Art, and Design. It has approximately 300 Art Majors, 20 full-time faculty, and offers a BFA degree with concentrations in Fine Art, Graphic Design, and Photography. Information about the department is available at

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Teach a 3/3 course load in the Graphic Design concentration.
- Work with the other Graphic Design faculty to oversee curriculum and portfolio review.
- Maintain an active body of research or creative activities.
- Advise Graphic Design students.
- Committee service as well as other services to the Department, College, University, and professional field.
- Teaching across the Graphic Design curriculum from introductory through advanced courses including electives.

Minimum Qualifications:

- M.F.A. or equivalent terminal degree with an emphasis in Graphic Design or related field.
- Evidence of teaching experience and/or potential.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Well-rounded, multidisciplinary designer

ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS):


Preferred Qualifications:

- Active research, teaching, and service record that prepared the candidate to contribute to the programming of a Research Institution.
- Strong understanding of typography and contemporary graphic design theory and practice as well as the ability to teach a variety of graphic design courses.
- Excellent personal and collaborative skills.
- Ability to inspire students and colleagues to perform at a high level.
- Preference will be given with particular interest areas of research emphasis in two or more areas related to illustration, interactive design, animation, app design, and web-based media, emerging trends in digital media art utilizing code-based production, UI/UX design,
entrepreneurship, analog, and digital design methods, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
