Serves to facilitate external and various institutional sponsorship awards to students. Assists with overall management of the University student sponsorship contracting and tuition waiver operations.

Salary Grade:  12

Department Profile:

Account Services strives to provide friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable service in the assessment and collection of fees and revenues due Mississippi State University. We will do our best to make payments as painless as possible, issue refunds swiftly and provide as much information and assistance as our resources allow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Process, balance and maintain NSF check records with recommendation of schedule cancellations relative to payment rejections.
2. Assist with customer inquiries and concerns via phone, email, postal mail, etc.
3. Balance the daily cashier summary report.
4. Research -on-line payment transactions as well as departmental and student/parent requests for assistance.
5. Distribute and process incoming mail and departmental deposits.
6. Process account refunds in accordance with federal, state, local or MSU guidelines.
7. Daily verification of Imprest cash balances, prepares receipt deposits and delivers daily bank deposits.
8. Assist with voiding and reprinting of refund checks as directed.
9. Assist with imaging and indexing documents.
10. Process tuition reservation and/or housing rental deposits.
11. Process various military academic invoices and payments in accordance with Federal GI Bill, VA Tuition Assistance and Dependents Tuition Assistance programs.
12. Process various contracts, invoices and payments to support external scholarship operations.
13. Assist with rules maintenance regarding the University’s Student Waiver/Exemption programs.
14. Maintains compliance with departmental security procedures, audit procedures and University business policies and procedures.
15. Serves as back up for front-line operations.
16. Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: Three (3) years accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience.

An equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous cash handling experience; knowledge of MSU operations, systems and campuses; knowledge of internet and electronic programs for management of large volumes of data; any equivalent combination of related experience and/or education approved by Human Resources Management will be considered.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
• Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
• Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
