Position Function:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the day to day operations of the Trio Student Support Program and ensures that the delivery of services and activities meet the project goals and objectives. The Project Coordinator is also responsible for the fiscal operations of the program which includes, maintaining a general accounting system for the department by performing a variety of accounting duties.

Salary Grade:  14

Area of Specialization:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Reconcile and assist with fiscal administration for the department/unit, including but not limited to budgets, funding, grants, contracts, payroll, employment, travel, and/or purchasing; may assist with fiscal planning, including participating in seeking alternate sources of funding.
2. Maintain an efficient system of receiving, posting, and depositing revenue and receiving, verifying, posting, and processing vouchers for payment of goods and services.
3. Prepare journal entries to record income, expenditures, interest, fund transfers, encumbrances, etc.
4. Transfer funds between accounts following established guidelines.
5. Prepare various accounting schedules, statements, and reports for monthly and annual reporting.
6. Gathers data for budget preparation and inventory reports; prepares or assists in the preparation of the annual budget, and procures all supplies, furniture, and office equipment.
7. Maintain grant compliance and ensures it meets federal guidelines.
8. Devise and execute strategies to ensure the success of students within the Trio Program.
9. Acquaint students with the Trio Student Support Services program and project services.
10. Develop and maintain all appropriate files and records for TRiO participants.
11. Gathers student academic information and prepares various reports as requested.
12. Assist students in the completion of various complex forms and other university documents.
13. Assist with Trio programs and events as needed.
14. Refer students to other campus resources as needed.
15. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Focus
Education Bachelor’s degree Field/discipline related to the position

Experience (yrs.) 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge and previous experience using spreadsheet software program
2. Ability to operate computer keyboard and 10-key electronic calculator
3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of diversity, inclusion, equity and access within higher education
4. Understanding of educational, economic, social, and psychological needs of TRiO students.
5. Prioritizes tasks and delegates effectively

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work
2. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
3. No or very limited physical effort required.
