Provide final analysis to fundraisers on specific prospect donors. Assist fundraisers in managing their prospect portfolios. Maintain prospect management database.

Salary Grade:  11

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Proactively provide research analysis:
2. Partner with fundraisers in managing their prospect portfolios.
3. Reactive research - provide prospect research in response to a specific request from a fundraiser. Go through very similar steps as listed in Principal Activity 1 but tailored to requested needs of the fundraiser.
4. Prepare confidential profiles on top-priority prospects and donors for the MSU President and Vice President of Development and Alumni.
5. Provide biographical information on identified prospects invited to various events by the MSU President and Vice President of Development and Alumni.
6. Populate Assignment Pool – Consistently populate assignment pool with prospects from proactive research. Review assignment pool to prioritize future proactive research in an effort to keep prospect pipeline full and respond to fundraisers’ need for more prospects in a timely manner.
7. Provide assistance to the Director of Prospect Management in maintaining the Research budget.
8. Engage in professional development such as keep up with latest trends in research, maintain membership in APRA (Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement), network with counterparts in peer institutions and attend conferences, webinars, etc. for further education.
9. Help train student workers for Prospect Management and Prospect Research Department.
10. Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma

Experience (yrs.): Four years

Preferred Qualifications:

* Strong interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to use a variety of database and spreadsheet programs.
* Strong technological skills.
* Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities and multi-tasking.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
* Frequent external imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
* Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
No or very limited physical effort required.
