Engineering Mechanics & Materials Science research group at the Center for Advanced Vehicular System’s at Mississippi State University is looking to hire a postdoctoral research associate immediately for two separate steel development projects.

The Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS) at Mississippi State University is an interdisciplinary center comprised of research, engineering design & development, and technology transfer teams for industry and government partners. Our overall effort is focused on developing superior computational, engineering, manufacturing, design, and information technologies relevant to Mississippi and regional industries. This is accomplished by bringing together world-class technologists and technologies to solve complex problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Applicants should have demonstrated strong expertise in steel physical and mechanical metallurgy including thermomechanical processing. Candidate with industrial experience in steel mills are preferred.
2. Optical microscopy, FEG-SEM, EBSD, FE-TEM, Gleeble, ThermoCalc and Dictra
3. Demonstrate intellectual independence
4. Good oral and written communication skills
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Materials/Metallurgical engineering or a closely aligned field. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated the ability to conduct research at the highest level
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
(1) Gleeble, micrography, texture analyses, high performance microscopy; (2) computational materials science (optional)
