Position Function:

Advises future, current, and past graduate students in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Foundations regarding program requirements, curriculum, and policy. Analyzes transcripts for transfer credit and advises students and faculty on program adjustments and needs.

Salary Grade:  14

The Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Foundations offers graduate programs (masters and doctoral) in educational psychology, school psychology, and counseling, as well as an undergraduate program in educational psychology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Works closely with students, faculty, staff, and other campus office to answer questions related to policy, admissions, curriculum, graduation requirements, comprehensive exam requirements, thesis/dissertation requirements, and other applicable requirements for graduate degrees. Also serves as the campus coordinator for the national comprehensive exam company for three degree programs.
2. Creates and maintains student files in accordance with the Office of the Graduate School and accrediting body policy including admissions forms, accreditation forms, comprehensive examinations, examination results, graduation forms, dismissal forms, professional development plans, and other program-specific documents.
3. Reviews grade reports each semester to determine probation and/or dismissal from the program in accordance with University, Graduate School, and program policy communicating academic status changes with students and faculty.
4. Handles graduate program recruitment via social media accounts, student meetings, phone calls, departmental tours and recruitment fairs.
5. Coordinates department's orientation and developed Canvas program for department-affiliated students, staff, and faculty to communicate updates, provide digital access to required paperwork, and send departmental news.
6. Edits and updates the department's website and departmental documents including student handbooks, practicum and internship handbooks, program planning guides, and departmental and accreditation-related forms.
7. Manages department accreditation software program including database management, setting up courses, rubrics, and accreditation standards/KPIs and serving as the department's person of contact on the College's Assessment Committee. Also prepares accreditation documentation by running reports in multiple databases and communicating applicable findings to graduate faculty.
8. Duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in academic records or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree and three years of experience in academic records or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to communicate and relate to students and university personnel.
2. Knowledge of word processing and spread sheet programs.
3. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Work in normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
2. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
3. No or very limited physical effort required.
