The appointee will assist in, and conduct, research in plant tissue culture and molecular biology. The primary plant of interest is the grass Miscanthus. This entails extensive laboratory experimentation with some greenhouse and, perhaps, field work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties will include: 1) attain competence in established regeneration and transformation procedures; 2) assist in developing more efficient procedures including faster and higher throughput screening of cells/tissues; 3) routinely conduct genetic transformations and plant regeneration; 4) screen and analyze transgenic/edited tissues; 5) become familiar with DNA/RNA sequence analyses such as BLAST; 6) be proficient in plasmid/vector cloning; 7) collect, maintain and analyze experimental data, produce experimental summaries and write-ups for reports and publications; 8) keep up with current literature on Miscanthus and genes of interest for the project; 9) supervise students in the research lab; 10) perform other general duties assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

A professional employee with an earned Bachelor's degree in related discipline and demonstrated competence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidate with plant tissue culture and molecular biology experience and relevant coursework.
M.S. in plant science or related area

•No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
•Work is normally performed in a typical interior/laboratory work environment.
•Greenhouse work is involved.
