The College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University is accepting applications for a 3-year residency training program in Veterinary Clinical Pathology beginning July 16, 2023.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This post-DVM training program will prepare the candidate to successfully complete the certifying examination of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. This residency is a three-year position, renewable on an annual basis, assuming satisfactory performance. The resident will work closely with 2 board certified clinical pathologists at the CVM. Residency training will emphasize diagnostic cytology, hematology, clinical chemistry, hemostasis, and laboratory quality management. It will also include time on the surgical biopsy service. The resident will participate in the diagnostic service, teaching of veterinary students, journal club, rounds, seminars, and will be encouraged to attend and present at national meetings and write manuscripts for publication. The caseload is diverse, and diagnostic investigation is strongly supported. The Resident will participate in teaching veterinary students in both didactic and clinical settings.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include a DVM degree and the ability to attain licensure in Mississippi.
Mississippi licensure requires having successfully passed the NAVLE exam. For students that have not attended an AVMA accredited veterinary school, successful completion of the PAVE program (Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence) or the ECFVG (Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates) certification program is required.
