The Assistant Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life in the Colvard Student Union is responsible for advising one or more Greek coordinating councils and its member organizations. The Assistant Director is supervised by the Associate Director of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and collaborates with staff and graduate assistant(s) to provide guidance and support for the 4 Greek coordinating councils and 34 fraternity and sorority chapters at MSU.

Salary Grade:  15

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Advises the officers and membership of one or more of the Greek coordinating councils (IFC, NPHC, Multi-Cultural Greek and Panhellenic). Attends regular meetings of the council and of the executive council.
2. Advises officers, advisors, and the individual sororities and/or fraternities of the council(s). Meets regularly with chapter advisors.
3. Advises IFC/NPHC/Panhellenic/MGC Council leaders and collaborates with appropriate state, regional, and national NIC/NPHC/NPC/MGC representatives in planning and overseeing the recruitment/intake process for the council(s) he/she advises. Assists advisors of other councils with coordinating recruitment/intake for their organizations.
4. Acts as a liaison for the University with and the state, regional, and inter/national NIC/NPHC/NPC/MGC representatives of the council(s) which he/she advises.
5. Trains and oversees chapter leaders in maintaining membership and academic records of member organizations of the council(s) which he/she advises.
6. Collaborates with Associate Director and other Fraternity/Sorority Life staff in advising Greek Council leaders in planning and coordinating Greek leadership training, including the annual Greek Retreat, Council specific trainings, etc.
7. Collaborates with Director, Associate Director, other Fraternity/Sorority Life staff, and Greek Council leaders in planning and coordinating educational programming for chapter leaders and members.
8. Responsible for maintaining a budget and detailed records of expenses, revenue, and strategic planning for specific Council(s) and educational programming.
9. Responsible for department assessment and working with Division of Student Affairs Assessment Team.
10. Collaborates with other MSU offices/departments, e.g., MSU Police and Dean of Students, and chapter officers and advisors in overseeing planning and coordination of major events of member chapters of the council(s) he/she advises, e.g., recruitment/rush/intake, major philanthropic and social events, and major Council events.
11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in student development, higher education, educational leadership, or related discipline.
• 1 Year Experience Leadership, duties, and responsibilities of job description.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in student development, higher education, educational leadership, or related discipline.
• Three years’ leadership experience with an NIC, NPHC, MGC or NPC organization.
• Experience in planning and managing an organizational/departmental budget.
• Experience supervising staff.
