The College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University is seeking a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Beef Cattle Production Medicine and Epidemiology.

Salary Grade:  UC

For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The position will be responsible to lead epidemiologic research on important problems affecting beef cattle production, with focus on southeastern US production systems. This position will participate in teaching in the DVM program and will provide on-farm experiences incorporating production medicine principles. They will serve as liaison with the Mississippi Veterinary Research and Diagnostic Laboratory System for beef cattle diagnostic laboratory submissions and will offer follow-up on cattle diagnostic cases. Maintenance of close ties to the Mississippi Cattlemen’s and Farm Bureau organizations is expected.

The FTE for this position is 40% research, 30% teaching, and 30% service.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required qualifications include:
1. A DVM (or equivalent) with license to practice in MS.
2. Maintenance of USDA Accreditation Category 2.
3. A PhD in a related area by start date.
4. Board certification in an AVMA recognized specialty within 2 years of start date.
5. Practical experience in at least one phase of beef cattle production.
6. Demonstrated collegiality, excellent teaching and presentation skills.
