This position manages a wide variety of activities and provides support for the Vice President of Research and Economic Development. Activities include but are not limited to faculty award and promotion packets, division policies and agreements, travel planning, official visitor review, special correspondence, affiliated organization management including Research Technology Corporation, Advanced Research Development Corporation, and MS Research Consortium. This position communicates with internal and external partners on a regular basis, may provide project/grant support, and may provide assistance to others in the VP office. The position reports to the VP or designee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversees and/or performs a range of diverse and sometimes complex activities for the Division of Research.
• Utilizes knowledge and understanding of underlying operational issues to create, compose, and edit technical documentation including policies, procedures, plans, contracts, and agreements.
• Assists in problem solving, program/project planning, development, and execution of stated goals and objectives.
• Supports VP with personnel matters including staffing, faculty awards, and promotion procedures, coordinating with departments and centers as required.
• Researches, gathers, and complies various data; prepares special and/or one-time reports, summaries, and presentations selecting relevant data from a variety of sources.
• Manages senior personnel travel planning.
• Supports VP Office with grant and project management.
• Reviews all official scholarly researcher visitor agreements for compliance and reasonableness.
• Ensures University policies maintained by ORED are current, coordinating with other offices as needed for updating and approval.
• Manages ORED job postings, approvals, and onboarding of new hires.
• Supports VP and senior leaders with organizational management for Research Technology Corporation, Advanced Research Development Corporation, and MS Research Consortium, and work with other association such as ORAU, SURA, etc.
• Support VP and senior leaders in related types of activities and serving as backup for other support staff as requested.
• Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with project planning or management, administration, business or related field requiring adaptive problem solving.

Experience (yrs.) 2 years

Substitution allowed:
Any combination of related experience and/or education equivalent to the minimum qualifications as approved by the Department of Human Resources Management.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. No unusual physical requirements.
2. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
3. Frequent - Externally imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; irregular hours may be anticipated; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position.
4. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands
5. Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 10 pounds
6. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically
7. Hearing requirements: Heavy telephone contact requires ability to hear and respond to telephone conversations
