The experimental Medium Energy Physics group at Mississippi State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position. The group has research interests that include studies of nucleon structure and QCD dynamics in nuclei at Jefferson Lab and Fermilab, such as the precision measurement of color propagation and hadronization processes, the study of color transparency phenomenon as well as the partonic structure of bound nucleons. The group is in addition interested in the study of sea quarks distributions, EMC effect, the poorly known gluon transverse momentum distributions using J/Ψ production, and transversity with the polarized Drell-Yan, E1039/SpinQuest, experiment at Fermilab.

Salary Grade:  UC

For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

We are looking for candidates who will be stationed at Fermilab and will lead the group efforts on operating, maintaining, and servicing the cryogenic and polarized targets while commissioning and running the SpinQuest experiment along with participating to data analyses. The successful candidate will be encouraged to actively participate in the development of new proposals as well as projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics or related fields is required along with proficiency in programming and data analysis concepts. Experience in solid polarized targets and/or cryogenic systems is preferred.
