Position Function:
The appointment is 100% research under the academic supervision of Dr. Vitor Martins. Your research will be focused on coastal research, satellite data processing, and water quality algorithms within the MBRACE project. This project aims to use satellite time series data and develop an advanced dashboard for product visualization in the Gulf Coast waters. Your research will generate open-access research publications and satellite-based water quality products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Your duties will involve Sentinel-3 OLCI image processing and in situ water quality collection and will focus on coding, processing, and analyzing these satellite multi-spectral data using Python language, preparing manuscripts and presentations describing the research, collaborating with other members of Dr. Martins's research team, and ABE department, interacting with staff at MSU and MBRACE, and other institutions, and occasional travel to scientific meetings. In addition, related duties will be determined in discussions with Dr. Vitor Martins, Principal Investigator of MBRACE funding.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biosystems or Environmental Engineering, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Hydrology, Marine Science, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, or related fields
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Remote Sensing or Biosystems Engineering, at least three years of computer programming experience, and first-authored publication(s) in the peer-reviewed literature.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must have experience with satellite data processing, programming, and good oral and written communication skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Most of the work is conducted in the office, with occasional fieldwork
