Position Function:
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Mississippi State University.
Salary Grade: UC

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
We seek a highly motivated candidate interested in investigating aquatic animal health using microbiology, molecular biology, and immunology research techniques. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment and assist in grant and manuscript writing. Prior research experience in DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, Real-Time PCR, Western Blot, ELISA, bacterial gene deletion, fish vaccination, cell culture, and histopathological techniques is highly desirable. Applicants must design and conduct experiments independently, help write manuscripts and grant applications, and present research findings at scientific meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
A PhD in microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, or a related field, substantial research experience, and a strong publication record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The ideal applicant should be highly motivated and collaborative and have a working knowledge of standard laboratory techniques for cloning bacterial genes, expression and purifying protein products, generating gene deletion mutants of bacteria, microbiology, molecular biology, and immunology.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
