The Triage Coordinator reports to the Director of MSU Student Counseling Services and serves in the Division of Student Affairs. The Triage Coordinator is responsible for scheduling students/client appointments, maintaining waitlist, corresponding with and providing resources to students on waitlist, providing mental health services including individual, couple, and group counseling when needed, and providing psycho-educational programming and workshops to the campus community when needed. Additionally, the Triage Coordinator is responsible for providing crisis intervention and consultation services for students.

Department Profile:

Mississippi State University's Student Counseling Services is inviting application for a Triage Coordinator to join our team. The selected candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate the ability to work within a high-paced, inclusive, collegiate community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Schedule student/client appointments.
2. Maintain waitlist of students/clients seeking services.
3. Match and assign students/clients with clinicians based on preference and need.
4. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure manageable caseloads.
5. Deliver updates and resources for students/clients awaiting services.
6. Assist with training & onboarding for new employees.
7. Provide crisis intervention to students/clients both during and after facility operating hours.
8. Facilitate inpatient hospitalization as needed.
9. Maintain clinical case files in accordance with legal, ethical, & professional standards.
10. Other duties as assigned .

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in mental health counseling, social work or other licensed eligible mental health related field.
At least 1-2 years of experience in a community mental health agency or university/college counseling center.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree from an accredited institution of higher education in social work, clinical mental health, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education with 1 or more years of experience within a community mental health agency or college counseling center. Licensed-eligible to be licensed within 2 years in the the statee of Mississippi.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Experience, knowledge, and training in mental health.
2. Experience in psycho-educational/outreach programming and workshops.
3. Experience with clinical services within a university counseling center preferred.
4. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with students.
5. Knowledge of an adherence to ethical standards endorsed by licensing professional organization.
6. Possess strong student orientation.
7. Motivated to function effectively with the organizational and administrative structure of a university counseling center.
8. Value involvement and participation within the Division of Student Affairs.
9. The ability to work with a diverse student population.
10. Ability to create and maintain, collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility, with an exception of outdoor outreach events that occur each semester.
2. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
3. Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
4. Vision Requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
