This Program Manager position will plan and implement the FFA program (middle/high school) for the state of Mississippi. This individual may also coordinate a team as necessary to complete the program and project needs. The program and projects are education related and will require working with middle and secondary schools, teachers and students. Work in a cross-functional work team environment where multiple priorities and deadlines must be managed simultaneously; attention to detail in all areas of work. There is extensive travel involved with this job and working with the state officers of FFA.

Salary Grade:  15

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage online conference registration.
• Guide and support district personnel across Mississippi in developing and strengthening partnerships with Agriculture business and industry and teachers.
• Conduct dynamic classroom presentations about FFA for teachers and students as requested throughout the year.
• Plan and facilitate fall, district, and state conferences during the year to offer FFA leadership workshops and competitive events.
• Create promotional materials about FFA for posting to the MDE website.
• Create and distribute guides to all current and perspective FFA chapters that outline information in the by-laws, competitive events, dress code, and code of conduct.
• Create and maintain an advisory council that consists of business/industry partners, teachers, students, program supervisors, and the MDE Student Organization Director.
• Create and maintain a competitive events team. This team consists of teachers across the state who will work with each category of FFA competitive events.
• Coordinate with the MDE Student Organization Director to manage the FFA student organization bank account with income and disbursements in accordance with MDE student organization financial procedures.
• Coordinate with MDE Agriculture State Supervisor to promote FFA conferences and competitions.
• Meet bi-monthly, or as needed, with MDE Student Organization Director.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to meet FFA objectives.
• Serves in a support role to all divisions within the RCU.
• Attend staff meetings with the RCU.
• Must work independently to lead projects from beginning to end.
• Must plan and lead meetings, workshops, and presentations necessary for project completion. This includes making presentations in front of large groups of people.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in education at the secondary level, post-secondary level and/or working in career and technical education program development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree and/or five years’ experience working in education-related organizations in administration, training, curriculum, or project/grant management activities.

Valid Mississippi Educator Professional License in Agriculture preferred but not required.

Experience in presenting to various types of audiences (example: educators, workforce, community).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to innovate and work as both a team member and team leaders. Strong ability to work autonomously and independently to manage project. Experience with planning and managing project budgets and reporting. Understanding of curriculum and assessment development. Experience with making presentations and leading meetings. Ability to organize and manage projects and prepare a written plan with objectives, actions, milestones, budgets, timelines, success measurements, and evaluation methods. Ability to anticipate barriers to project completion; plan and manage contingencies. Ability to write grants and proposals for external funding. Knowledge of using technology to deliver products and services. Experience with online learning management systems is a plus. Knowledge of education trends in the areas Academic Standards, Career Pathways, leadership, 21st century skills, and college and career readiness. Must have strong knowledge of instructional and emerging technologies.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and most work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility. It would require loading/unloading vehicle of education material used for any training(s) or conference(s).

Requires moderate to extensive travel with some overnight stays. Travel to schools in Mississippi and visit to out-of-state partner organizations and schools.

Externally imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one's control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; may involve conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis. Expectations and job assignments will change frequently.
