The Office of Research Compliance is a unit of the Vice president for Research and Economic Development. The Office of Research Compliance seeks to respectfully guide and serve the Mississippi State University community while engaging in research through compliance and ethical practices in order to protect the University, researchers, and research subjects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Compliance Administrator is responsible for administrative support duties for the IRB, IACUC, and CIRC.
Duties include but are not limited to:
-receive, triage, and process incoming protocol submissions, modifications, continuing reviews, and disclosure forms for review by appropriate MSU staff and regulatory committees with considerable exercise of independent judgment including advising faculty, staff and students on preparation of documents;
-assist investigators with general questions;
-committee meeting preparation and drafting of minutes;
-draft various correspondence;
-coordinating various mailings;
-manage databases, and filing systems to ensure accurate and up-to-date information and compliance with applicable regulations and policies;
-assist with development, management and presentation of research compliance-related education programs;
-assist in development, documentation and implementation of compliance policies and procedures, and quality improvement programs;
-assist in development and monitoring of Conflict of Interest management plans;
-coordinate inspections by regulatory, accreditation or funding agencies; and
-assist in preparation and distribution of required reports.
Other duties related to the goals of the office may be assigned as necessary.
-Experience with data management and word processing systems such as MS Word, Excel and Access.
-Ability to work independently and attention to detail.
Work experience in a directly relevant field such as Animal Care and Use, Human Research Protections, or Financial Conflict of Interest.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate will have:
-a basic understanding of research compliance as it relates to an academic institution;
-the ability to competently function independently or in a team environment;
-excellent analytical, organizational, reasoning, and problem solving skills;
-excellent verbal and written communication skills;
-ability to maintain accurate and detailed records;
-experience with data management and word processing systems;
-strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts;
-the ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a large variety of requests and needs, sometimes in stressful situations
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Usual office setting; ability to travel to various campus locations; some overnight travel is expected for professional development activities.
