Review, sort, and deliver incoming and outgoing mail and packages on assigned routes.

Salary Grade:  08

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.) Pick up and deliver all USPS and campus mail from post office and properly sort for distribution.
2.) Prioritize pick-up and delivery schedule according to factors such as location and time lines.
3.) Deliver all mail and other items in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining productive relationships with customers.
4.) Obtain appropriate signatures before release of delivery items according to applicable procedure.
5.) Ensure mail and other package deliveries are collected and delivered twice daily.
6.) May assist in preparing mail or packages for delivery and/or shipping as needed.
7.) Assist customers by responding to routine inquiries regarding mail and shipping services such as time of mail deliveries, rates, regulations, and mail processing equipment.
8.) Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.) High school diploma or equivalent
2.) Valid drivers license
3.) Ability to operate a computer keyboard to enter information.
4.) Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 lbs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1.) Ability to sort, count, and verify numbers while handling mail.
2.) Ability to effectively manage time and schedules and to complete mail routes.
3.) Ability to learn simple repetitive tasks in a reasonable period of time.
4.) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
5.) Ability to operate a light delivery vehicle.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Exposure to biological hazards such as tissues in formalin, body fluid samples, animal carcasses in whole or part, high traffic area; moderate to heavy lifting (>50 pounds).
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work in changing temperatures and weather conditions (i.e. rain, hot temperatures, cold temperatures) .
