This position will be responsible for assisting faculty in the planning and development of distance education courses and programs including assisting with the University Committee on Courses and Curricula proposals, providing support for meeting online quality standards, training on distance education best practices, and coordinating with the Center for Teaching and Learning, Information Technology and other units as necessary.

Salary Grade:  14

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Interact with faculty and administrators to identify new courses and programs for online format
2. Provide assistance to faculty in the development of online courses and programs ensuring the quality standards for online delivery are being met.
3. Assist faculty in assessing the most appropriate teaching methods, technologies and evaluation methods for their online course.
4. Facilitate and encourage the collaboration of online educators and distance education resource providers.
5. Provide hands-on support and assistance to faculty
6. Assist in creating and implementing course and program development timetables
7. Conduct best practices training sessions for faculty in collaboration with the Center for Teaching and Learning.
8. Facilitate regular effective communication with CDE staff and other units providing distance education related resources regarding the needs of faculty teaching online
9. Stay update on new instructional technologies and online teaching methods
10. Coordinate recognition of excellence in online teaching for our faculty
11. Maintain thorough knowledge of the departments, colleges, University and IHL requirements and schedules for course and program approval
12. Serve on appropriate committees
13. Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in field related to educational instruction from an accredited institution
3 years related experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of online instructional design best practices
2. Knowledge of Canvas or similar Learning Management System
3. Experience developing strong customer relations and managing customer expectations.
4. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
5. Strong written and oral communication skills.
6. Knowledge of teaching methods and strategies

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
2. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
3. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
