Position Function:

The position is a nine-month, tenure-track position at the Assistan Professor level. The successful candidate is expected to 1) enhance and broaden the research activities of the medium-energy group and/or other areas of experimental nuclear physics such as nuclear astrophysics, 2) continue the departmental tradition of excellence in sponsored research involving students, in teaching, and in service, and 3) advance the departmental mission of creating an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment.

Salary Grade:  UC

Department Profile:

The Department of Physics and Astronomy is housed in Hilbun Hall, and offer BS and MS degrees, as well as PhD degrees both in Physics housed under the College of Arts and Sciences and in Engineering with a concentration on Applied Physics housed under the Bagley College of Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Applicants are expected to 1) initiate and lead an independent research program, 2) establish a well-built record of publications in scientific journals, 3) have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and 4) commit to promote an equitable, diverse and inclusive environments in research, teaching, and service.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a doctorate in physics or a related field.

ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS):

No

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of Postdoctoral experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to 1) teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, 2) engage and suppervise students in research projects, 3) initiate and lead an independent research program, prepare, and submit grant/contract proposals to fund projects/graduate students, and promote an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environments in research, teaching, and service endeavors.
