Provide a broad-range of fiscal activities for the Department of Athletics and assists the Associate Athletic Director of Business Operations with the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Business Office.

Salary Grade:  15

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist with managing Athletic Business Office staff and departmental accounting processes, month-end and yearly closings, and reconciliations of various general ledger accounts.
2. Manage approval process for departmental contracts and actively monitor contractual receivables.
3. Reviews monthly ProCard vouchers.
4. Assist with administering department’s operating budget and participate in budget meetings.
5. Assist with forecasting, financial analysis, and the creation of integrated financial models.
6. Communicate with staff concerning business matters and advise them of proper accounting procedures. Conduct sessions to update personnel on travel, procurement procedures, and budget matters.
7. Assist with the procurement and travel processes as needed.
8. Submit NCAA postseason travel reimbursements.
9. Assist Associate Athletic Director / Business Operations and Deputy AD / CFO with projects as assigned.
10. Performs related duties as assigned.

Supervises all full-time Athletic Business Office staff other than Deputy AD / CFO and Associate AD / Business Operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Sports Management or related field with 3 years of experience in collegiate athletics, professional sports, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accountancy, Public Administration, or Sports Administration.
2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
3. Five or more years of related experience.
4. Experience in EADA/NCAA reporting.
5. Demonstrated ability to explain, advocate, and express facts and ideas in a convincing manner.
6. Proven ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, both orally and written.
7. Strong interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse group of constituents.
8. Strong critical-thinking skills and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to prepare financial reports.
2. Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures.
3. Knowledge of university accounting procedures involving procurement, travel, and/or employment.
4. Ability to perform accounting procedures.
5. Ability to analyze and solve problems.
6. Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
7. Account reconciliation skills.
8. Ability to use Microsoft Office suite.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
• Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
• Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
