Position Function:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist senior research staff with conducting federally-funded research studies associated with employment for individuals who are blind or have low vision. The Postdoctoral Associate will receive mentoring from senior research staff to develop research skills and prepare the person to lead future research projects. This is a time-limited, full-time, 12-month position, for a two-year period.
Salary Grade: UC
For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist senior staff with research activities, which may include
a. Conducting literature reviews
b. Survey development
c. Data collection (via survey, interview, or observation)
d. Data management and preparation of secondary data for analysis
e. Data analysis
f. Development of peer-reviewed publications and reports.
2. Assist in the dissemination of research results to external audiences.
3. As part of a team, develop ideas for new research projects.
4. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in a focus area of Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Educational Psychology, Special Education, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with or conducting research related to people with disabilities, particularly people who are blind or have low vision. Experience working with large national datasets.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Statistical analysis skills.
• Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SAS or SPSS.
• Ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and show initiative.
• Ability to balance quality and productivity.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
• No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly
all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
• Frequent external imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions
influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a
few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to the
position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or
stress on a regular basis.
• Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects
with hands.
