The College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University is seeking to hire an Assistant Research Professor in Aquatic Health. The position will be supported by the Mississippi State University Global Center for Aquatic Health and Food Security and will be based in or near Gulfport, Mississippi with periodic trips to Starkville, Mississippi.

Salary Grade:  UC

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust, extramurally funded aquatic health research program. In addition, the position will support ongoing marine mammal and sea turtle conservation programs and aquatic health research projects. This involves collaborative research and relationship building with faculty within Mississippi State University as well as external partners including state and federal agencies. This position will contribute to teaching and diagnostic support on an invited basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must have a PhD demonstrating expertise in aquatic health. Experience with marine animal health is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Applicants must be willing and able to travel within Mississippi and regionally. Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team of scientists is desirable.
