Department Profile:
The Department of Art at Mississippi State University is accepting applications for a full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor, in Emerging Media. We are seeking a candidate with diverse skills that bridge emerging interest in students studying Graphic Design, Photography, and Fine Art. This position is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience at a Research 1 institution with the potential for application to a tenure track of the same position in the future.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the position will include teaching 4 courses per semester. These courses may include introductory and advanced courses in the areas of Graphic Design and Photography with the potential to develop elective coursework specific to expertise.
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.F.A. or equivalent terminal degree with an emphasis in:
• Data Visualization, Graphic Design, Interactive Media,
• Video, Animation, Digital Fabrication, Experimental Media
• Sound Design, Digital Photography, Design, Video & Motion Graphics, VR,
related fields.
- Evidence of teaching experience and/or teaching potential.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of emerging media as it pertains to graphic design theory and practice as well as the ability to teach courses in emerging media as appropriate for Photography and Fine Art.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical proficiency with current digital media applications including Adobe Creative Suite on the Macintosh OS X platform.
- Excellent personal and collaborative skills.
- Ability to inspire students and colleagues to perform at a high level.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Minimal physical effort.
