The Associate Athletic Director for Broadcast Services will oversee the production, staffing, and technical aspects of all Mississippi State Athletic events broadcasted on linear and digital networks. This individual will serve as the primary broadcast point of contact for the Southeastern Conference office and partners such as ESPN, ABC, and the SEC Network. This person will oversee a staff of full-time Broadcast Operations and Broadcast Technology & Engineering team members in addition to freelance and student workers. Responsibilities will include department budget oversight, on-air talent staffing, control room maintenance, and equipment upkeep. The Associate Athletic Director for Broadcast Services will report to the Deputy Athletic Director for External Engagement and will be a member of the External Engagement leadership team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the management and oversight of all MSU-produced linear and digital broadcasts. Travel is not required.
2. Oversees Broadcast Services department staff including the recruiting, hiring, training, and crewing of all full-time, freelance, and student workers.
3. Serves as the primary broadcast point of contact for SEC office and broadcast partners such as ESPN, ABC, and SEC Network.
4. Serves as the primary point of contact for broadcast talent including recruiting and staffing for MSU-produced games on digital networks.
5. Responsible for Broadcast Services budget oversight including ongoing control room, engineering, and equipment maintenance and upkeep.
6. Leads and/or supports shoulder programming such as coaches’ shows, pre and post game shows, post practice press conferences, media days, episodic content, etc.
7. Supports other athletic department needs, events, and units such as in-venue production led by Fan Experience team and replay & communication systems led by Event Management team.
8. Liaises with outside vendors and production teams for on-campus and off-campus MSU Athletics events as needed.
9. Ensures MSU Athletics brand is represented at the highest level through storytelling and elevated production elements.
10. Takes revenue-centric approach to broadcast production as it relates to linear offerings and opportunities to monetize MSU intellectual property and content.
11. Performs related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Entire Broadcast Services Department with direct reports including the Director of Broadcast Operations and the Director of Broadcast Technology & Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related field with eight (8) years of experience in collegiate or professional sports broadcast production, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ten (10) years of experience working in collegiate or professional sports broadcast production and television work in a leadership position during that time; experience in budgeting, staff management with relationships in the broadcast production industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge and experience producing live sports television consistent with ESPN standards and branding.
• A working knowledge of broadcast operations, methods, and techniques including but not limited to live event directing, producing, creative video production process, camera operations, camera angle and lens types, proper filming techniques, lighting design, audio production, and post-production process.
• A working knowledge of relevant technology including but not limited to fiber paths, video switchers, audio mixers, graphics platforms, LED displays and components, instant replay systems, broadcast cameras, coax and audio cable termination.
• A working knowledge of various production equipment including but not limited to Ross Acuity and Carbonite production switchers, Ross XPression graphics system, Evertz Dreamcatcher replay system, Evertz routing system, DiGiCo audio console, RTS Adam-M intercom system and Ikegami video cameras.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with a wide range of internal colleagues and external constituents.
• Ability to work long hours including nights and weekends and to multi-task while meeting stringent deadlines.
• Ability to supervise staff.

• Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
• Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
• Job occasionally requires standing, stooping/kneeling/ crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 25 pounds;
• Vision requirements: ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
