Position Function:
Responsible for human resources and payroll processing for the College of Veterinary Medicine. Performs all activities necessary to process payroll, timesheets, leave, and compensatory time. Assists with preparing hiring paperwork, managing the online applicant tracking system, and maintaining related records.
Salary Grade: 14

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Reviews personnel documents for correctness, and compliance with university policy and state and federal funding requirements.
2. Maintains files and records of actual hours worked, leave requests, and other human resources related documents.
3. Identifies and resolves potential payroll problems; follows up to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
4. Prepares, reviews, reconciles, balances, and maintains leave and payroll records.
5. Submit semi-monthly payrolls and manage timesheets of student workers and staff and acquire necessary signatures and approvals.
6. Process electronic leave in Banner for all faculty, staff, and student workers and finalize in Banner before the end of the month.
7. Serve as back up to hiring coordinator. Duties may include, but are not limited to, posting vacant positions, managing the online applicant tracking system, and preparing new-hire paperwork.
8. Prepares and reviews documents related to worker’s compensation.
9. Prepare payroll and budget reports as needed.
10. Review and improve payroll policies and procedures.
11. Corresponds with college faculty, staff, Department of Human Resources Management, and Controller’s Office regarding human resources and payroll issues.
12. Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree.
2. Three years’ experience in payroll, accounting, or bookkeeping.
3. Any equivalent combination of related experience and/or education approved by the Department of Human Resources Management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures
• Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
• Records maintenance skills
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
