The Corporal is responsible for performing law enforcement duties as directed by the Chief of Police. This position is distinguished from the Police Officer position by the additional responsibilities or duties and additional, acceptable job-related experience required. The Corporal position is established to provide the Department with a well-rounded officer committed to the goals and mission of the Department, and who has demonstrated the ability to work successfully with minimal supervision while providing peer assistance and mentoring. This position is expected to provide consistency and stability within the University Police Department by possessing a working knowledge of the Departmental operating procedures and philosophy, as well as, progressive law enforcement techniques. |

The Civil Rights Specialist reports to the Director of Civil Rights Compliance and is responsible for managing investigations of alleged misconduct related to sex, race, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, and other statuses protected under MSU policies and applicable laws, including but not limited to allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking.
The position also shares responsibility with other staff in the Office of Civil Rights Compliance for the development and review of affirmative action plans, development and delivery of education and training materials to MSU community members, advising administration on civil rights related issues, and other functions related to compliance with civil rights laws, including but not limited to Title IX, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
