Position Function:

The CFR Admissions Coordinator serves under the administrative supervision of the Director (or Assistant Dean) of Student Recruitment and Retention.

Primary roles of the position are to:
• Recruit undergraduate students to the College of Forest Resources
• Coordinate and assist with academic activities and events for the College of Forest Resources
• Develop and implement strategies to recruit scholarly students to the College of Forest Resources.
• Develop and implement strategies to grow enrollment in majors with high job demand and placement.

Salary Grade:  14

Department Profile:

The Admissions Coordinator will serve the College of Forest Resources (CFR) at Mississippi State University. The mission of CFR is to foster the management, conservation, and sustainable use of forest, wildlife, and aquatic resources to benefit the people of Mississippi, the nation, and the world. CFR offers 4 majors and 16 concentrations and hundreds of careers. CFR provides students with ample opportunities to join discipline-oriented clubs and organizations and engage in undergraduate research.

Anticipated Appointment Date:

November 2026. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate off-campus recruiting and assist with on-campus recruiting which includes, but is not limited to the following:
a. College Fairs
b. Private Visits
c. Classroom Workshops
d. On-campus after-school and summer programs
2. Lead CFR Academic Insight and Awards Banquet
3. Collaborate with campus-wide partners in the College of Forest Resources, Office of Admissions and Scholarships, Housing and Residence Life, Financial Aid and the broader MSU campus
4. Maintain relationships with high schools, academies, community colleges and the CFR Community Partner Network.
5. Travel to recruiting events and sites to meet with students, parents and stakeholders
6. Address and refer inquires and informational requests from faculty, students, and parents or guardians
7. Coordinate campus visits with prospective students and parents or guardians
8. Maintain prospective student contact files and databases
9. Recruit, manage and mentor the CFR Student Ambassadors
10. Coordinate and assist with student orientation sessions
11. Collaborate with Marketing Director to maintain and develop CFR recruiting materials
12. Coordinate recruiting communication plan
13. Collaborate with the Director (or Assistant Dean) of Student Recruitment and Retention to develop and manage annual recruitment budget
14. Chair the CFR Recruitment Committee, and serve as a liaison for CFR on the University Recruitment Council
15. Other responsibilities deemed appropriate

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources, Student Affairs, or other degrees related to this position.

Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with students, parents or guardians, academic administrators, and faculty. University level recruiting experience and demonstrated success.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Proficiency in using relevant software and databases
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills
• Ability to travel for recruitment events and activities
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Well developed written and verbal skills
• Ability to make data driven decisions

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

No unusual physical requirements. Nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.

Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.

Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.

Job requires substantial travel, involving overnight stays, to perform recruiting duties and attend events Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
