Position Function:

The Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a clinical-track faculty position in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor, Associate Clinical Professor, or Full Clinical Professor. Area of Specialization:

Small Animal Internal Medicine

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching responsibilities involve didactic and clinical training of professional students, interns, residents, and graduate students.

Service responsibilities involve clinical case management, rotating emergency duty, and consultation with private practitioners. Clinical duties in the Small Animal Internal Medicine Service will be shared with four other faculty members.

The service currently has five residents enrolled in an ACVIM-approved three-year combined residency and thesis-driven master's program.

Participation in the College's continuing education and clinical research program is strongly encouraged, as is the development of a specific area of clinical and research focus and expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

DVM or equivalent degree. Ability to obtain licensure in Mississippi.

Preferred Qualifications:

Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine is preferred, but residency-trained individuals eligible for final certification examination will also be considered. An advanced degree and experience in clinical research are desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent telephone and email communication skills, especially related to client service.
Must be capable of working in a team environment comprised of doctors, staff and students to provide veterinary care of patients and aid in the instruction of veterinary students and veterinary technology students.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
