Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, full-time, 9-month, tenure track, beginning August 16, 2027.

Salary Grade:  UC

Department Profile:

The Department of Psychology is within the College of Arts & Sciences. It houses 25 full time faculty members, over 800 undergraduates, and about 45 doctoral students in our Cognitive Science and Clinical Psychology Ph.D. programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The new faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including courses in the specialty area of cognitive psychology/cognitive science. The successful applicants will maintain a program of scholarly research, apply for external funding, teach undergraduates and graduate courses, and supervise graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology or closely related field (e.g., cognitive science; cognitive neuroscience) by the time of appointment.

An NSF-funded postdoc position is available in the lab of Megan Smith in the Department of Biological Sciences at Mississippi State University. The project aims to develop robust, user-friendly machine learning tools for population genetic inference and to apply these tools to uncover the drivers of diversification in several empirical systems. The lab has developed a Python package for demographic inference using machine learning, and the successful candidate will extend these methods along several axes. In addition to the current project, the lab is pursuing a wide range of empirical and computational research in phylogenetics and population genetics. Postdoctoral Associate (L,P,S)

The successful candidate will play a leading role in developing innovative optical spectroscopic instrumentation and measurement methodologies, including unpolarized, linearly polarized, and circularly polarized transmission, scattering, photoluminescence, and emerging multimodal spectroscopic platforms. Working closely with faculty collaborators and an interdisciplinary team of postdoctoral associates, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers, the candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research while developing expertise in proposal preparation, project leadership, mentoring, and technology commercialization. The position is particularly suited for candidates pursuing careers in academia, national laboratories, or advanced industrial research.
