Position Function:

Network Administrator is responsible for planning, implementing, designing, analyzing, maintaining, and provide technical support for a large, complex data communications network or group of networks. Conduct research and evaluation of network technology and recommend, purchase, and install networking equipment.

Salary Grade:  13

Anticipated Appointment Date:

September 2026. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Consults with users and performs needs analyses requirements, recommends designs, provides cost analyses, plan projects, and coordinates tasks for installation of data networks.
2. Assists in resolving technical problems for established networks.
3. Provides network documentation, training, and guidance to computing system clients and programmers.
4. Serves as a technical resource for network problems and emergencies; assists in troubleshooting and resolution of network production problems.
5. Investigate alternatives and researches development of strategic implementations of network components; recommends network solutions for short-range, medium, and long-range network projects.
6. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
7. May lead or guide the work of other staff and/or students engaged in similar functions
8. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology, or another technical field.

Experience: One (1) year of experience similar to duties described.

Preferred Qualifications:

The following are desirable in addition to the minimum qualifications:
• Previous experience managing and maintaining complex systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
• Ability to prioritize and schedule work assignments.
• Ability to design and coordinate the installation of high-speed data networks.
• Ability to determine computer problems and to coordinate hardware and/or software solutions.
• Ability to maintain and troubleshoot computer network hardware and peripheral equipment.
• Ability to develop and write systems and applications documentation and guides for users.
• Ability to provide a range of systems training and/or support activities for users.
• Ability to develop systems solutions for operational problems.
• Knowledge of a range of computer networking systems and languages.
• Well-developed Interpersonal communication skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Occasional lifting required.
• May include frequent heavy travel and/or unanticipated irregular work hours
• unusual pressure on a daily basis due to accountability for success for major projects or areas of operation.
