Position Function:
The Department of Music seeks an energetic, team-oriented candidate to serve as 12 month, 50% FTE Student Recruiting Coordinator (20 hours per week). The successful candidate will assume this role at an exciting time in the department with new facilities, strong enrollment, a strong relationship with the university administration, and planned growth in curriculum and community relations. The new Student Recruiting Coordinator is expected to bring a positive and energetic costumer service perspective to Department of Music recruitment and additional projects as assigned.

Department Profile:
Mississippi State University is a comprehensive land grant institution ranked by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a Very high Research Activity University. The university is a member of the Southeastern Conference. The Department of Music is a part of the College of Education and is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
In the fall of 2022, the department moved into a $21 million state-of-the-art music facility to compliment the Sills Band Hall. The 37,000-square-foot facility at 124 Hardy Road includes classrooms, a choral rehearsal hall, faculty offices, sound-proof practice rooms, recording studio, lecture/recital hall, student lounge and administrative suite.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential duties that fall within the responsibility of this position include:
1. Assist with the ongoing development of the recruitment plan for the Department of Music.
2. Work with the Department Head of Music, chair of the department Recruitment and Retention Committee, faculty, and staff to coordinate and participate in recruiting events (travel).
3. Develop, maintain, and track the department database for potential students.
4. Assist office staff in the development of recruitment materials and social media.
5. Other duties as assigned.
This staff position will be limited to 20 hours per week half-time, but must be willing to hold an extremely flexible schedule, be masterful at pre-planning weekly commitments with multiple priorities, and document weekly hours spent on each assignment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field

Understanding programs of study offered in the Department of Music
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Normal office environment with some travel required.
Requires limited lifting of objects under 20 lbs.
Job frequently requires walking, sitting, standing, talking, hearing, reaching, and handling objects with hands.
