The Coordinator of Pre-College and Opportunity Programs is responsible for facilitating an array of college preparatory programming that raises students’ awareness of college, broadens student exposure to college and careers; and assists and supports students and their families in the college application, tests, and financial aid process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for designing and managing both the application and registration process for pre-college programs to ensure cohesiveness across programs and initiatives
2. Responsible for the development and implementation of college-readiness workshops and exploratory activities for pre-college students
3. Provide communications, training, and professional development for student staff
4. Participates in pre-college fairs and other external recruiting and promotional events
5. Collaborates with the Office of Admissions and Scholarships to communicate to high school students, parents, counselors and administrators about pre-college offerings
6. Fields phone call and email inquiries from prospective students and families, while also facilitating program-related communications with accepted students
7. Serve on divisional, university and community committees as assigned or required.
8. Assist the Associate Director of Pre-College & Opportunity Programs in administrative duties and special projects as assigned.
9. Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two year’s work experience in K-12, higher education, or related field. Experience in budgeting, and staff selection and training; and must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and management skills.

• Advanced knowledge of issues affecting diverse populations.
• Advanced cultural sensitivity and humility across the spectrum of diversity broadly defined.
• Ability to lead high initiatives from conception to implementation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to oversee and direct student staff
• Demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion at the university
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and advising skills.
• Sound judgement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
• Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficulty to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotion issues or stress on a regular basis
• Ability to work weekends and long hours
