The College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University is seeking to hire a Clinical Instructor in marine animal health. The position will be supported by and will serve the Global Center for Aquatic Health and Food Security. The position will be based in or near Gulfport, Mississippi with periodic trips to Starkville, Mississippi. Reappointment will occur on an annual basis and will be dependent on funding.

Salary Grade:  UC

For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will provide clinical and diagnostic services to the Gulf Coast Aquatic Health Program with a primary document on marine mammals and sea turtles. This position will support the clinical care of rehabilitating sea turtles and will assist or perform necropsies to investigate cause of death in marine mammals and sea turtles. Depending upon interest, this position could join the team of multidisciplinary scientists and clinicians participating in research projects involving the population and habitat analysis of marine mammals and sea turtles in the Mississippi Sound.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent and be eligible for licensure in the state of Mississippi. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. This position requires a valid driver’s license, and ability to conduct vigorous physical activity.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have experience in veterinary clinical care of sea turtles and/or with necropsy of marine mammals and/or sea turtles. Experience with electronic medical records and/or laboratory information management software is preferred. The ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team of scientists is desirable.
