Position Function:

Plans, coordinates, and conducts special projects for the Shackouls Honors College, including day-to-day administrative, operational activities, and community building. This position will work directly with multiple faculty and staff members in the Shackouls Honors College as well as serve as a liaison between students, other departments, and/or external constituencies on day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative functions or issues.

Salary Grade:  13

For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides administrative support and collaboration in the development, implementation, and marketing of projects and programs.
2. Serves in a leadership role to manage the administration of project duties daily, coordinates and tracks team goals, project timelines, etc. to ensure that deadlines are met. Manages events and calendars for office to ensure times/reminders of signature Honors events and project deadlines.
3. Coordinates events and activities of Honors staff, faculty, and/or external constituents engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives and project logistics, prepares resulting documents, records and compiles minutes, and conduct follow‐ups when needed, including course related activities.
4. Maintains detailed budget records for projects and programs and provides reports to internal and external partners.
5. Assists the Coordinator of Outreach with recruitment initiatives local to the Starkville campus.
6. Performs or delegates clerical and administrative tasks, including creating and editing program correspondence, reports, and other publications.
7. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience 1 year professional experience.

Substitutions:
An equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of MSU policies and procedures, including knowledge of BANNER system, travel policies and procedures, purchasing guidelines
Experience working with academic software such as Canvas
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking experience
Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
Ability to travel on short in-state and out-of-state trips which may require an occasional overnight stay
Ability to coordinate a wide variety of tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work functions with attention to details

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
• Planning and implementation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range constituency in a diverse community.
• Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles. Knowledge of contract and grant preparation and management.
• Knowledge of database management.
• Knowledge of employee online policies and procedures.
• Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications for the job.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
• No or very limited physical effort required.
