This will be a partnership position - the employee can be housed at CREC in Biloxi or with a partner organization in coastal Alabama.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Seeking someone mid-career or advanced early career to join our team at the Program for Local Adaptation to Climate Effects: Sea-Level Rise (PLACE:SLR) as a Climate Resilience Extension Specialist. PLACE: SLR is a partnership between Mississippi State University Extension, Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant, and Florida Sea Grant focused on sea-level rise resilience research, Extension, and outreach activities. PLACE: SLR fosters a multi-state network of stakeholders, researchers, NGOs, and state and federal agencies building tools, programs, and projects to address gaps in sea-level rise observing, research, and decision-making in the northern Gulf of Mexico. The successful applicant will receive a competitive salary as a fully benefitted MSU employee and have the option to enroll in an MSU graduate school program as either a M.S. or Ph.D. student with a tuition waiver. Graduate school department could vary depending on the desires of the successful applicant but would likely be in the School of Human Sciences with Dr. Collini as the major professor. The position can be based at the MSU Coastal Research and Extension Center in Biloxi, MS or at a location in determined with local partners in coastal Alabama. There will be travel expected regularly across coastal Mississippi, Alabama, and NW Florida for activities on an at-least monthly basis. The ideal start date for this position is between late fall or early winter 2022 but could possibly be shifted based on the preference of the selected applicant.

Specific activities will include collaborating with municipal and state staff and officials tackling current and future flood resilience efforts; coordinating and managing project needs across multiple PIs from a variety of disciplines ranging across biogeophysical and social sciences; designing, implementing, and evaluating stakeholder engagement efforts; designing and implementing trainings around project outcomes; generating Extension and peer-reviewed publications; and assisting with other projects/programs within PLACE: SLR. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to develop some of their own activities/focus areas based on their interest. Travel for the activities described above as well as conferences or meetings will be necessary. PLACE: SLR also has an explicit focus on fostering an inclusive culture that welcomes a diverse array of employees, partners, end-users, and stakeholders.

Master's degree with major course work in a curriculum appropriate for the field of assignment and 3 years of experience.

* Knowledge and skills in using Microsoft Office Suites especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint; knowledge and skills in document/project management/sharing platforms (e.g. Google Drive, Basecamp, etc.),
* Knowledge and skills in webinar software (WebEx, GoToMeeting, Zoom, etc.),
* Ability to develop and maintain diverse and robust partnerships,
Ability to collect, process, and interpret research data; ability to author or co-author publications.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
* No or very limited physical effort required,
* Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.,
* Ability to work long hours,
* Requires substantial routine travel, including some overnight trips,
* Working remotely may be allowed for this position.
