The main focus of the position will include conducting research on big-picture management of fish assemblages and their potential interactions with invasive carps in the Tennessee and Cumberland river basins. Research activities include literature reviews, assembly of data sets, data analysis, development of management strategies, and develop research proposals.

The incumbent will closely work in an interdisciplinary of researchers and postdocs with Mississippi State University. The team investigates honey bee-associated viruses in pest ants, focusing on pathological, immunological, and chemical ecology aspects. The successful candidate will help in statistically analyzing the data using statistical software, including R, and visualizing data. They will also use simulation programs, including but not limited to the Universal Simulator, to help understand the effectiveness of viral infection routes through various pathways, how viruses spread within ant colonies, and how viruses distribute among different ant castes and developmental stages. Additionally, the team aims to study the response of ant colonies to viral infections in the laboratory setting. Therefore, possessing skills in computational simulation is a must. The individual in this role is expected to assume responsibility, conduct directed research, work independently with minimal supervision, or collaborate with other team members. The incumbent must demonstrate interest, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to achieve the research program's goals.

The Diagnostic Imaging Residency at Mississippi State University is a three and one half year, clinical based program designed to educate residents in the art and science of diagnostic and interventional imaging. The program provides a post-DVM individual with educational experience in both small and large animal diagnostic imaging, under the supervision of Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Radiology, preparing them for ACVR board certification. Residents have the option to complete a Master's degree during the program.
